The Extron XPA U 2008 FX is an eight-channel, high-performance audio power amplifier that can deliver 200 watts simultaneously into 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70 volt, and 100 volt loads in multi-zone systems. Rotary switches on the rear panel make it quick and easy to independently select an output mode per channel to power each zone. This highly efficient Class D amplifier features InstaWake+™, the ability to return to full power from standby in under 5 milliseconds. For maximum flexibility, the total power of two adjacent 200 watt channels is shared, delivering up to 400 watts per single channel, according to system requirements. The fan-cooled enclosure does not require adjacent empty rack spaces for ventilation and includes front and rear rack mount hardware for stability.

Configurable Output Modes and Flexible Power Allocation

Output modes can be independently configured per channel for 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70 volt or 100 volt operation, with the option of adding a high pass filter in 70V or 100V mode. This allows a single XPA U 2008 FX amplifier to drive multiple types of speakers simultaneously, saving cost and space.

The total power of each odd/even channel pair is shared between the two channels. This adds to the multi-zone flexibility of the XPA U 2008 FX by allowing a single amplifier to meet the SPL requirements of multiple speaker zones.

The combination of flexible power allocation and configurable output modes allows a single XPA U 2008 FX to accommodate a high power stereo pair of low impedance speakers in addition to multiple zones of 70V or 100V speakers.

InstaWake+

The XPA U 2008 FX includes an auto power-down feature that places the amplifier into standby after 25 minutes of inactivity. When in standby, the XPA U 2008 FX draws minimal power. It quickly comes out of standby upon detection of signal in under 5 milliseconds, fast enough that even the sharpest beginning of audio is not cut off. When coming out of standby, the XPA U 2008 FX draws minimal inrush current, creating no sudden demand on power systems. For applications where the amplifier is required to remain active at all times, the auto-standby feature can be easily disabled.

Compact Installations

The fan-cooled XPA U 2008 FX doesn't require adjacent empty rack spaces for cooling, allowing it to consume less rack space than competing amplifiers. Combined with hundreds of precise design choices, this enables many XPA U 2008 FX units to be efficiently stacked in an equipment rack.

Designed by Extron

All circuits in an Extron power amplifier are designed by our team of dedicated power amplifier engineers, ensuring that each model meets or exceeds our high standards of excellence. By designing everything in-house, Extron engineers can meticulously and effectively optimize for maximum performance, reliability, power efficiency, and reduced heat.

Rock-Solid Reliability

Product reliability is a high priority at Extron and we go to great lengths to engineer products with industry-leading low failure rates, driven by rigorous testing of everything we ship. The elimination of short-lived electrolytic capacitors in the signal path,  PCB designs that exclude the use of failure-prone wire harnesses, the use of long life fans, and accelerated burn-in testing ensure the XPA U 2008 FX will provide many years of service.
