The Extron Surface Mount Kit is a replacement accessory for the exclusive, patented mounting system that is included with the Extron SM 3, SM 26, and SM 28 SpeedMount® surface mount speakers. This Extron-exclusive, concealed mounting system is designed to speed up installation. During rough-in, electrical contractors can install the mounting system on the wall and terminate the speaker cable to the mount's integrated wiring contacts. Later, installers can slide the SM 3, SM 26, or SM 28 speaker onto the mount and secure it into place, while automatically connecting to the wiring contacts.

SM 3

The kit for the SM 3 includes 0° and 10° mounting plates and is available in black or white. The mounting plates are installed on the wall and can be attached to US or European electrical junction boxes, or directly to wall studs or wall boards. When used with the 0° mounting plate, the SM 3 protrudes less than 4 inches (10.2 cm) from the wall to comply with ADA - Americans with Disabilities Act standards for protruding object limits.

SM 26 and SM 28

The kit for the SM 26 and SM 28 includes 0° mounting plates and 10° mounting adapters, and is available in black or white. The mounting plates can be attached to wall studs or wall boards. The 0° mounting plate allows the SM 26 or SM 28 to be oriented vertically or horizontally, flush with the wall. When the versatile 10° mounting adapter is added to the mounting plate, the SM 26 or SM 28 can be positioned with a 10° tilt downward, upward, left, or right.

Once the SM 3, SM 26, or SM 28 mounting plate is installed with the speaker cable wired to the contacts, the innovative mounting system allows the SpeedMount surface mount speaker to slide onto the mount and lock into place. In the same installation step, the integrated electrical contacts on the speaker automatically mate with the pre-wired contacts on the mounting plate to speed up and simplify installation. A release on the speaker baffle allows for quick removal from the mount. The release is lockable and hidden, and together with the concealed speaker wiring contacts, helps to deter theft.
