The Extron PowerCage MTP R 15HD RSA SEQ is a modular board-designed MTP Twisted Pair receiver for the PowerCage^® 1600 enclosure. It receives VGA and summed mono audio signals, or RS-232 serial control signals, sent over a single CATx cable from an MTP Series transmitter. Supported video formats include RGBHV, RGBS, RGsB, RsGsBs, HD component video, S-video, and composite video. The PowerCage MTP R 15HD RSA SEQ is compatible with resolutions up to 1920x1200 and will support cable lengths of 600 feet (185 meters) or more with XGA signals, and 450 feet (135 meters) or more with UXGA signals. The PowerCage MTP R 15HD RSA SEQ is compatible with the entire MTP Series of twisted pair products.

The double-slot board design of the PowerCage MTP R 15HD RSA SEQ allows for as many as eight receivers to be populated in the PowerCage 1600 enclosure, reducing installation time and simplifying power management. The PowerCage MTP R 15HD RSA SEQ receiver is hot-swappable, allowing for replacing or upgrading boards in the field at any time, without having to power down the system.

The PowerCage MTP R 15HD RSA SEQ features separate variable level and peaking controls that compensate for signal loss and precisely optimize image quality for various CATx cable lengths. The PowerCage MTP R 15HD RSA SEQ also includes Extron skew equalizer technology for maintaining color alignment when using standard CAT 5-type cable, thus ensuring the highest quality signal at the display.

Integrated Skew Equalization

Skew is the color misalignment present in twisted pair AV systems using CAT 5, CAT 5e, or CAT 6 cable in which the red, green, and blue video signals arrive at the display at different times. With the PowerCage MTP R 15HD RSA SEQ and integrated skew equalizer technology, the arrival of color signals is synchronized, improving image quality while maintaining full signal integrity.

The MTP Series

The PowerCage MTP R 15HD RSA SEQ is fully compatible with MTP Series twisted pair products, designed for easy integration into new and existing AV environments. The MTP Series is a complete twisted pair system including transmitters, receivers, switchers, matrix switchers, and distribution amplifiers, providing the ability to send, route, and distribute video, audio, and control signals. The entire family of Extron MTP Series products sets the price/performance standard for audio/video twisted pair technology.

Benefits of Using Twisted Pair

Because the MTP Series utilizes CATx cable for distribution, it offers considerable advantages in cost, performance, and ease of installation. CATx cable is a fraction of the size of coaxial cable, and much lighter, more flexible, and less expensive, thus providing AV system designers and installers with an economical, space efficient solution for a variety of applications.

Space-saving design in a compact 3U, rack-mountable enclosure — The compact design of the PowerCage 1600 enclosure accommodates up to 16 single-slot or 8 double-slot boards. The PowerCage 1600 eliminates individual power supplies for each transmitter and receiver, and provides forced-air cooling for each module.
