The Extron Extender Plus is a one input, one buffered output line driver that extends VGA-QXGA and HDTV component video signals up to 250 feet (75 m) on Extron MHR Mini High Resolution or similar cables. It also accepts unbalanced computer stereo audio and converts it to balanced, line level stereo audio. A variable level/peaking control provides equalization to compensate for signal loss and high frequency attenuation due to long cable runs. To simplify integration, the Extender Plus features EDID Minder®, an Extron-exclusive technology that automatically manages EDID communication between devices. Available in decorator-style and AAP form factors, the Extender Plus is ideal for a wide range of applications to extend computer-video and audio signals over long cable runs.

The Extender Plus features EDID Minder, which automatically manages EDID communication between devices to ensure that the source powers up properly and reliably outputs content for display. EDID Minder enables the Extender Plus to emulate the display, providing EDID information to the connected source device, even when the display is not connected. EDID data can be selected by a user, or captured from the display. Pre-stored EDID is communicated to the source based on a user-selected resolution and refresh rate. Alternatively, the extender can be set to capture and store EDID information when connected to the display.

The Extender Plus provides adjustable video amplification and peaking to compensate for the voltage losses and high frequency attenuation that normally occur in long cable runs. A three-position dipswitch lets the installer select the appropriate signal boost for various cable lengths, providing a more detailed image with greater contrast. For simple and versatile connections, video output is on five female BNC connectors on a three-inch pigtail for RGB and five-inch pigtail for HV signals, while audio signals are output on a captive screw connector.

The Extender Plus also restores the low level sync voltages found on many laptops to normal TTL levels. This sync restoration prepares the signals for long cable runs, and offers enhanced compatibility with a wide range of computers, display devices, and cable types.

Active audio buffering allows unbalanced PC audio to be converted to balanced, line level stereo audio, eliminating noise usually associated with unbalanced audio when distributed over long cable runs.

The Extender Plus is available in two versions that are ideal for discreet mounting in a variety of architectural applications. The Extender Plus AAP – Architectural Adapter Plate fits into any Extron product that accepts a double-space AAP. It is available in black or white to match any decor. The Extender Plus D mounts in an included decorator-style wallplate, and is available in white. The Extender Plus D can be used with or without a one-gang electrical box, and includes a matching mud ring.

The Extender Plus features an efficient, external universal power supply for worldwide compatibility.
