The Extron DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D is a single-gang decorator-style transmitter for sending 3G‑SDI, HD‑SDI, or SDI, audio, and bidirectional RS‑232 and IR signals up to 230 feet (70 meters) over a shielded CATx cable to Extron DTP®‑enabled products. It provides seamless integration of broadcast-type video signals into DTP Systems, supporting video rates up to 2.97 Gbps. The transmitter accepts analog stereo audio signals for simultaneous transmission over the same shielded twisted pair cable. It also offers many integrator-friendly features such as an input loop-through, remote power capability, and bidirectional RS‑232 and IR pass-through for remote AV device control. The space-efficient, wall-mountable design of the DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D provides the convenience of placing input connections precisely where they are needed.

The DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D enables the reliable transmission of 3G‑SDI signals. In addition, the transmitter provides a connection for sending stereo analog audio to a DTP‑enabled matrix switcher, switcher, or signal processor. The analog stereo audio signal is sent over the same shielded twisted pair cable as the 3G‑SDI and control signals, eliminating the need for a separate cable run to support analog audio at the DTP‑enabled product. To suit the needs of the application, the DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D can transmit a selected pair of AES audio channels as embedded digital audio.

The twisted pair transmitter provides other convenient, integrator-friendly features designed to help simplify installation. The DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D supports simultaneous transmission of bidirectional RS‑232 and IR signals from a control system for AV device control. Also, the transmitter can be remotely powered over the shielded twisted pair cable by a DTP‑enabled product, allowing both devices to share one power supply. To enhance and simplify integration, the DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D offers automatic input cable equalization and reclocking on the buffered SDI loop-through. Input equalization restores and reshapes incoming 3G‑SDI signals, reducing the need for additional signal conditioning equipment by compensating for weak source signals or signal loss from a long input cable.

The DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D is immune to pathological signals, including test patterns defined by SMPTE RP 178 and SMPTE RP 198 for 3G‑SDI, HD‑SDI, and SDI. Immunity to pathological signals enables the DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D to reliably transmit these signals without loss of video.

The DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D features built-in signal conversion for full compatibility with all DTP 230 Series receivers and DTP‑enabled products. It can be integrated with an Extron DTP CrossPoint® presentation matrix switcher to support sources at remote locations. It is ideal for interfacing broadcast-type sources, such as PTZ cameras, with professional or consumer-level equipment in a wide range of environments. The transmitter mounts in an included single-gang decorator-style wallplate that fits a standard US one‑gang size junction box. The wall-mountable form factor of the DTP T 3G‑SDI 230 D allows for discreet placement in walls, lecterns, and floor boxes.

Extron recommends Extron-certified XTP DTP 24 shielded twisted pair cable, shielded RJ‑45 plugs, jacks, and couplers engineered for optimum signal transmission with Extron DTP Series products. The XTP DTP 24 cable is certified to 475 MHz and utilizes a SF/UTP design with four unshielded 24 AWG twisted pair conductors inside an overall braid and foil shielded for superior performance and noise immunity.
