Anaheim, California (March 28, 2002) – Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the Extron RGB 460xi Steel City brand Floor Box Interfaces, architectural interfaces that can be mounted into Steel City AFM 2, AFM 4, AFM 6, and AFM 8 floor boxes. The Extron line of RGB 460xi Interfaces coupled with the Steel City floor boxes address the need for aesthetically pleasing, discreet solutions for applications where décor and appearance are as much of a consideration as functionality and durability.

There are four Extron RGB 460xi Floor Box Interfaces: the RGB 460xi SC-AFM 2, the RGB 460xi SC-AFM 4, the RGB 464xi SC-AFM 6, and the RGB 468xi SC-AFM 6. The included computer-video interface features a female 15-pin HD input and buffered local monitor output. With a 15-130 kHz scanning range and 300 MHz (-3dB) RGB bandwidth, all of the interfaces are compatible with VGA—UXGA, Mac, Sun, and SGI signals. In addition, the RGB 464xi is able to convert low-level, unbalanced audio signals to line-level, balanced audio signals on both 3.5 mm and the RCA audio inputs. It also includes an RJ-45 network connection and provides pass-through connections for composite video and S-video. The RGB 468xi includes four single space Architectural Adapter Plate (AAP) openings. Each AAP opening can be populated with virtually any one of the many optional Extron AAPs. All four interfaces' output connectors are on five BNC pigtails.

Each interface is able to convert computer-generated, unbalanced stereo audio to balanced line-level audio to provide trouble-free routing over long cable runs. Extron's exclusive Advanced Digital Sync Processing (ADSP™) technology ensures that each interface will devices often have trouble with degraded sync signals altered through previous processing or work flawlessly with digital display devices (DLP, LCD, plasma, etc.). Digital display interfacing. ADSP compensates for limitations imposed by sync processing, preventing common image problems such as hooking, tearing, or bending at the top of the screen.

In addition to the four floor box interfaces, there is also the SC-AFM 8 Mounting Kit for Steel City AFM 8 floor boxes. It can accommodate any Extron four-gang, three-gang, two-gang, or one-gang faceplate. The flexible SC-AFM 8 Mounting Kit can support such products as Extron RGB 460xi, RGB 464xi, and RGB 468xi interfaces, as well as the Extron TP T 460 Twisted Pair Transmitters and a variety of Extron AAPs. With a simple and adaptable design, the SC-AFM 8 Mounting Kit, as well as all of the floor box interfaces, is available in gray.
