Automation, Configuration, and Programming
Extron automation systems, occupancy sensors, and Extron Room Scheduling prepare rooms by turning on lights, powering up presentation systems, and lowering shades. When your meeting is done, you can walk out of the room and know that the same automations work in reverse and even alert the maintenance crew that the room needs cleaning.
Global Configurator Plus and Professional – GCP, is Extron’s advanced configuration software for AV control systems. These provide an integrated environment for defining advanced AV control system functionality from an easy-to–use graphical user interface. Powerful features, such as controller groups, conditional logic and local variables, provide greater flexibility for more elaborate control system designs.
Extron has opened its programming environment and made it easier to edit ControlScript projects in Microsoft's Visual Studio Code editor, as well as other popular Python editors. Extron has released the ControlScript Extension for VS Code to add ControlScript Libraries to VS Code's IntelliSense Code Completion and in-line documentation, as well as other tools and snippets to aid code development in VS Code. With the release of Extron's ControlScript Deployment Utility, ControlScript projects developed in any editor can be deployed and debugged to Extron Pro Series control processors and TouchLink Pro touchpanels.
User Interfaces
The control system interface is often the most visible part of the entire AV installation, and the experience our customers have with it determines their satisfaction with the system as a whole. Regardless of system scope, our focus has always been on the customer’s experience and providing high quality, reliable AV control interfaces that are easy to integrate, easy to implement, and easy to use.
The TouchLink Pro family includes full featured, customizable touchpanels that range in sizes from 3.5” up to 17”, available in a variety of mounting options including tabletop, wall mount, and flip-up Cable Cubby enclosures. Several models feature vibrant, capacitive touchscreens with edge-to-edge glass, and a multi-source, high-resolution video preview.
Extron’s MediaLink Plus controllers include the ability to control Ethernet enabled devices such as projectors and audio processors and also support advanced configuration using Global Configurator Plus and Professional. In addition, these controllers allow convenient and simple customization of their backlit buttons, either through easily removable button caps and preprinted labels, or by using Extron’s Custom Button Builder. MediaLink Plus controllers are available in a wide variety of form factors for easy integration, worldwide.
Extron Network Button Panels are fully customizable AV system control interfaces for IP Link Pro xi Series control systems and HC 400 Series products. These easy-to-use panels connect to a control processor using standard Ethernet and work in conjunction with a control processor to perform a wide variety of AV system functions such as display On/Off, input switching, volume control, and much more.
Workspace Controllers - Easy, Secure AV Automation for Your Meeting Space
Extron Workspace Automation Controllers are designed to add easy, secure display control and automation to workspaces of all sizes. Depending on the model you choose, you can have automatic display control via an occupancy sensor – either built right into the workspace controller, or easily integrated as part of a streamlined room automation system. Right out of the box, these automation controllers will automatically power on a display via CEC when a person enters a room and turn it off at the end of the meeting when no motion is detected. Using the built-in web page, you can configure automatic display control over Ethernet, RS-232, or IR. For added convenience, both models support Power over Ethernet.

This series delivers a huge leap in performance and capabilities, setting new standards for Extron control systems. With up to four times more memory and significantly-enhanced processing power for increased deployment speeds and improved runtime functionality, this new series is designed to excel in even the most demanding AV applications.
Control System Software
In addition to the software listed here, Extron offers a variety of utilities and software applications customers use to analyze, configure, optimize, and maintain their control systems.
Global Configurator® is Extron’s most powerful and versatile control system configuration software. It is designed to be used exclusively with Extron control products, including TouchLink® Pro touchpanels, IP Link® Pro and IPCP Pro xi Series control processors, IPL EXP expansion interfaces, MediaLink® Plus controllers, eBUS® button panels and devices, NBP Network Button Panels, and NAV products. Powerful features, such as conditional logic, variables, and macros provide greater flexibility for more elaborate control system designs. Global Configurator has two modes.
ControlScript is an object-oriented API - Application Programming Interface optimized for rapid data manipulation. ControlScript speeds programming by enabling large datasets to be retrieved from multiple devices and parsed effectively and efficiently. Programmers can reuse portions of code, incorporate readily-available modules, as well as define objects once in the program and then simply reference them moving forward. The ControlScript API accelerates development efforts so that programmers can spend a little less time waiting and a lot more time creating.
The Extron Toolbelt utility is a powerful standalone Windows application created for the management and troubleshooting of Pro Series control systems. This utility allows users to easily perform several different tasks such as; change device network settings, add an email server, upload firmware, view trace messages, remotely reboot Extron control products, and much more from a single application. Devices on the network can be automatically discovered or manually added if desired. Toolbelt also provides users with memory usage, device run time, author of the current project, and software version used.
Scalable Control for the Enterprise - Extron Virtual Control
Successful enterprise and campus-wide AV control starts with well-orchestrated AV designs. Extron has been working on large-scale installations for decades and understands the high demands these AV applications place on designers and integrators alike. When we set out to design the VCA 100, we looked at the challenges set forth by deploying and managing larger AV systems, at scale. With the VCA 100, we provide the flexibility of hosting AV control resources in a central location, right alongside the resources IT teams already manage. This centralized approach places the hardware in one location with up to 30 virtual control processors in various locations – all without recurring licensing fees.
LinkLicense – Upgrade Your Systems with Software-Enabled Enhancements
Extron Control System LinkLicenses are feature upgrades for a range of Extron control products. These LinkLicenses add a variety of capabilities to the AV system, such as enabling individuals to use mobile devices or computers as primary control interfaces in a system, adding IPCP Pro xi control processor capabilities to Pro Series touchpanels, and enabling additional virtual control processors on the VCA 100 Virtual Control Appliance. Control System LinkLicenses provide greater flexibility when designing, integrating, and using AV control systems.
Room Resource Management
Finding and booking an available space can be time-consuming. We have simplified this experience with Extron Room Scheduling Panels and the Wayfinding Interface. Our elegantly designed TouchLink® Room Scheduling panels connect directly to popular calendaring services. The TouchLink Wayfinding Interface, in conjunction with the Room Scheduling panels, provides a centralized real-time view of room availability and location.
AV Resource Management
GlobalViewer Enterprise software simplifies AV system resource management with intuitive control for hundreds of common AV tasks. Whether you’re working with 5 or 5000 rooms, GVE provides a powerful, flexible way to manage, monitor, and control nearly any device over a standard network.
It’s quite common for corporations, universities, and government agencies to have hundreds of collaboration spaces spread over broad areas. GVE allows you to manage this ever-increasing AV technology while effectively leveraging valuable help desk resources. The Help Desk view in GVE provides all the information you need from the entire enterprise or campus, all in one, easy-to-navigate interface.
Smart Technologies – BMS and More
Extron Control and automation systems help make smart buildings even smarter. Today’s smart buildings employ a number of automated processes that work together to regulate and control vital building systems, including HVAC, lighting, power, utility use, and closed-circuit cameras. This technology is comprised of devices and BMS – Building Management Systems that can “speak” to one another and carry out complex instructions based on the current state of various subsystems. This kind of communication requires software and hardware that can coordinate, monitor, and control via the building’s network. All Extron control systems integrate seamlessly with smart buildings and BMS.
Extron IP Link Pro and IPCP Pro xi Series control processors support popular BMS protocols, such as BACnet, KNX, and DALI in the form of device drivers, with no additional hardware or firmware needs. These protocols allow for centralized monitoring and control of mechanical and electrical systems that include HVAC, lighting, power, and security.
