Extron AV Technology Elevates Sacred Space at Jami’ Al-Barkah Mosque in Indonesia

Jami’ Al-Barkah Mosque, located in Cileungsi Bogor, Indonesia, serves as a prominent religious and community hub. Known for being a local center for religious education, the mosque also hosts Rodja Radio and Rodja TV, which broadcast events far beyond the local community. The building underwent a significant renovation starting in March 2020, which included an extensive upgrade of its AV system in the main auditorium.

The Extron system provides us with an excellent image on our LED wall along with very user-friendly and easy operation.

The renovation aimed to expand and modernize Jami’ Al-Barkah Mosque to better accommodate the growing number of worshippers and enhance its facilities. The newly renovated mosque features a larger structure with two floors, significantly increasing its capacity. Improved accessibility and modern amenities, including ablution spaces, further enhance the overall functionality and comfort for worshippers.

CHALLENGES

A critical component of the renovation was the installation of a new AV system in the main auditorium. This system needed to support wireless presentations and be easy to control, blending seamlessly into the large room. Local system integrator PT Utama Visual Teknologi was enlisted to design and install the new AV system. Their final design centers on a large-screen Samsung LED flat-panel display. A variety of sources and signals can be displayed in the auditorium thanks to Extron switching and signal processing technologies, and the whole system is managed easily with an Extron touchpanel.

Despite the complexities typically associated with such projects, the installation of the new AV system at Jami’ Al-Barkah Mosque was remarkably smooth. PT Utama Visual Teknologi completed the setup and programming in less than a week without encountering any significant obstacles. Seamless integration of the AV components was essential to maintaining the aesthetic and functional integrity of the mosque's design.

DESIGN SOLUTION

The MGP 641 multi-window processor is the cornerstone of the new AV system. It scales and presents up to four 4K/60 HDMI source signals on a single screen, featuring advanced Extron Vector™ 4K scaling technology for superior image quality. The processor supports live content or graphic images behind the source windows, with windows arranged freely on the output canvas. This flexibility is ideal for the diverse presentation needs of the mosque.

With an Extron ShareLink Pro Wireless Presentation Gateway, presenters at the mosque can share content from computers, tablets, or smartphones on a display for easy and cost-effective collaboration and instruction. Its advanced technology supports simultaneous display of up to four devices, including an HDMI-connected device.

The ShareLink Pro facilitates both open and controlled collaboration environments, with content shared wirelessly via Miracast™ without requiring software installation on personal devices.

An Extron TLP Pro touchpanel, with its high-performance quad- core processor, 1024x600 capacitive touchscreen, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) convenience, provides a fully customizable interface for controlling the AV system. Users at the mosque appreciate the touchpanel’s modern design and how its Corning® Gorilla Glass® construction withstands scratches and smudges.

The heart of the control system is an Extron IPCP Pro control processor. It ensures centralized AV control with advanced security standards and Gigabit Ethernet, and its small form factor, made it an ideal choice for the mosque's requirements.

RESULTS

The new AV system at Jami’ Al-Barkah Mosque has exceeded expectations. Users have reported clear images on the LED wall and find the user-friendly GUI highly intuitive. The wireless presentation feature provides a high-quality image and the ability to customize the ShareLink background enhances the user experience.

Feedback from the mosque's administrators and worshippers has been overwhelmingly positive. The AV system's reliability and performance have significantly reduced the need for technical support, allowing the mosque to focus on its primary mission of promoting Sunnah teachings and facilitating community engagement.
